Senior Engineer - SQL

Roles & Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

1. Install, configure and upgrade MS SQL Server software and related products
2. 
   Design and implement database structures, tables, indexes and security measures
3. 
   Perform regular backups and ensure data integrity and recoverability
4. 
   Monitor and optimize database performance, including query tuning and index
   optimization
5. 
   Troubleshoot and resolve database issues and performance bottlenecks
6. 
   Collaborate with development team to design efficient database schemas and
   optimize SQL queries
7. 
   Implement and maintain database security and access controls
8. 
   Ensure high availability and disaster recovery solutions for SQL Server databases
9. 
   Provide technical support and guidance to users and stakeholders
10. 
    Stay up to date with the latest SQL Server features, trends and best practices

Qualifications & Skills

1. 
   Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related field (or
   equivalent experience)
2. 
    Proven experience as an MS SQL Server Administrator or a similar role
3. 
   Strong knowledge of database administration and performance tuning for MS SQL
   Server
4. 
   Knowledge in other structured and non-structured databases is an
   added advantage
5. 
   Experience with SQL Server high availability and disaster recovery solutions (e.g.,clustering, mirroring, AlwaysOn, log shipping)
6. 
   Familiarity with database security best practices and access controls
7. 
   Understanding of database backup and recovery procedures
8. 
   Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
9. 
   Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment

Professional Qualifications

1. 
   Microsoft SQL Server certification (e.g., MCSA: SQL Server, MCSE: Data Management and
   Analytics)
2. 
   Experience with SQL Server Integration Services (sis) and SQL Server Reporting Services
   (SSRS)
3. 
   Knowledge of SQL Server Analysis Services (SSAS) and SQL Server Always Encrypted
4. 
   Familiarity with cloud-based database services (e.g., Azure SQL Database, Amazon RDS
   for SOL Server)
