Engineering Manager (Java)

Roles & Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

1. Engineering Leadership & Delivery Ownership

• Lead multiple engineering teams to consistently deliver high-quality products on schedule.

• Establish strong delivery discipline, accountability, and performance ownership.

• Proactively identify delivery risks, remove blockers, and ensure timely execution.

 

2. Driving AI-Enabled Engineering Excellence

• Promote adoption of AI-driven tools and intelligent automation to improve productivity, quality, and engineering insights.

• Leverage AI for development acceleration, testing automation, code quality, operational analytics, and decision support.

• Encourage data-driven engineering practices to enhance efficiency and predictability.

 

3. Cloud Strategy & Technical Oversight

• Guide design and delivery of scalable, secure solutions on AWS, Azure, or Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI).

• Ensure architecture supports scalability, performance, resilience, and business continuity.

• Provide strategic technical direction while empowering engineering teams.

 

4. Process Optimization & Tool-Driven Efficiency

• Champion effective use of engineering tools for project tracking, quality analysis, DevOps automation, collaboration, and operational monitoring.

• Continuously improve engineering workflows, reducing bottlenecks and improving cycle time.

• Promote automation across development, testing, deployment, and operational processes.

 

5. Strategic Alignment & Technology Roadmap

• Align engineering initiatives with organizational goals, product strategy, and business priorities.

• Contribute to technology roadmaps incorporating cloud modernization, AI adoption, and engineering maturity improvements.

 

6. Talent Development & Leadership Growth

• Mentor engineering leads and team members to strengthen technical expertise, leadership capabilities, and delivery ownership.

• Foster a high-performance engineering culture focused on accountability, collaboration, innovation, and continuous learning.

 

7. Governance, Risk & Compliance

• Ensure adherence to security best practices, regulatory standards, and organizational governance frameworks.

• Mitigate risks related to security, scalability, performance, and operational reliability.

 

8. Stakeholder Engagement

• Communicate engineering vision, delivery progress, and technical strategy to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

• Strengthen collaboration across engineering, product, delivery, and business teams.

 

9. Resource & Performance Management

• Optimize team capacity, resource allocation, and engineering performance metrics.

• Drive measurable improvements in productivity, delivery predictability, and product quality.

 

Qualifications, Experience & Professional Certifications: 

  • Level: 3
  • 8–10 Years 
  • Bachelor’s degree in software engineering, Computer Science, IT, or related field (or equivalent industry experience).
  • Technology Stack : Strong experience in Java enterprise development using Spring Boot and microservices architecture, with exposure to Angular front-end technologies, REST APIs, relational and NoSQL databases, CI/CD and DevOps practices, cloud platforms (AWS/Azure, OCI), containerization (Docker/Kubernetes), IAM solutions, workflow orchestration tools, and modern monitoring/observability frameworks.

 

Required Technical Skills & Experience:

1. Engineering Leadership

• Proven experience managing multiple engineering teams and driving delivery outcomes.

• Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate teams, enforce accountability, and foster continuous improvement.

 

2. Cloud & Architecture Expertise

• Experience with AWS, Azure, or OCI cloud platforms.

• Strong understanding of distributed systems, scalable architectures, and cloud-native development.

 

3. AI-Driven Engineering Practices

• Familiarity with AI/ML-enabled development tools, automation platforms, and intelligent analytics.

• Experience integrating AI capabilities to enhance engineering productivity and decision-making.

 

4. DevOps & Automation

• Strong experience with CI/CD pipelines, automation frameworks, monitoring tools, and infrastructure automation.

• Ability to drive DevOps maturity and continuous delivery practices.

 

5. Agile Delivery Management

• Strong experience with Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban) and improving sprint predictability and delivery consistency.

 

6. Engineering Tooling Ecosystem

• Experience with tools supporting code quality, collaboration, project tracking, documentation, automation, and operational visibility.

 

7. Security & Compliance Awareness

• Understanding of secure development practices, governance frameworks, and compliance standards.

 

 Competencies:

• Experience scaling distributed engineering teams.

• Strong focus on engineering metrics, performance optimization, and operational maturity.

• Experience implementing AI-assisted engineering workflows or digital engineering transformation initiatives.

• Exposure to enterprise compliance environments and structured engineering governance.
