Roles & Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform high-quality radiographic examinations using X-ray and digital imaging equipment
  • Ensure accurate patient positioning, exposure settings, and diagnostic image quality
  • Maintain strict radiation safety standards (ALARA) for patients, staff, and visitors
  • Prepare and support patients through procedures, ensuring comfort and care
  • Process, store, and manage images using PACS/DICOM systems
  • Collaborate with radiologists, doctors, and other clinical teams in diagnostic processes
  • Assist in specialized imaging procedures (fluoroscopy, contrast studies, etc.) where required
  • Perform routine equipment checks, report malfunctions, and coordinate with biomedical engineers
  • Maintain accurate records, logs, and compliance with regulatory standards
  • Participate in continuous professional development and staff training initiatives

Key Requirements

  • BSc in Radiography or Diploma in Radiography (recognized by Ministry of Health, Sri Lanka)
  • Registration or eligibility for registration with the Sri Lanka Medical Council (SLMC)
  • Minimum 2 years of clinical experience in a hospital radiology department
  • Proficiency in general radiographic techniques and digital imaging systems
  • Knowledge of PACS, DICOM, and hospital information systems
  • Strong understanding of radiation safety principles and regulatory compliance
  • Good communication and teamwork skills to work with patients and clinical staff
  • Ability to work in shifts, including nights, weekends, and on-call duties
  • Detail-oriented, with strong organizational and problem-solving skills
